INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION OF TRUSTEE OF HIT SCOTLAND

HIT Scotland is a Scottish charity dedicated to empowering inspirational development for those studying and working within the Scottish hospitality industry.

Over the years, HIT Scotland has awarded over 7,000 scholarships to the industry’s emerging talent and provided educational bursaries to over 15,000 students. This vital work is both led and supported by the industry it serves, made possible through dynamic fundraising events and unique networking activities across Scotland.

HIT Scotland has grown to collaborate with a range of sectors within hospitality, including tourism, leisure, the licensed trade, contract catering, and further and higher education.


The Background and Role

Our current trustees represent a broad spectrum of the hospitality and tourism sectors, including hotels, catering, restaurants, licensed establishments, and business management.

Trustees are appointed for an initial term of three years, with the possibility of renewal for up to a maximum of seven years. All trustees participate on the main board, with some serving on key subcommittees, such as Finance, Scholarship and Bursary, Remuneration, and Audit and Governance. The main board and finance committee meet quarterly.


The Person

When a position becomes available, new trustee appointments are made based on the candidate’s experience and knowledge, aligning with HIT Scotland's strategic vision and future goals.

We are seeking dynamic individuals from across Scotland who are passionate about making a difference. Applicants must be able to commit to attending quarterly board meetings and be dedicated to enhancing the values HIT Scotland strives to achieve. Applicants must not have been disqualified from serving as a trustee previously.


Voluntary Appointment

As with all charities in Scotland, trustee roles are voluntary and not remunerated.
