Gordon McIntyre Joins HIT Industry Heroes List
This year’s HIT Industry Award winner is Gordon McIntyre, Curriculum Head for Hospitality at City of Glasgow College.
Gordon has been a familiar figure in the world of education for over 3 decades. His enthusiasm for the development of his students is legendary. He has facilitated learning journeys, masterclasses, foreign experiences and a whole host of excellent industry education initiatives which have moved the industry on in a very positive direction. He is part of many collaborations and has always allowed others to get the credit for the success of projects well done.
Gordon was presented with his award at the HIT Industry Dinner at the Glasgow Hilton on 21st June, our showcase event of the year.
HIT Scotland only awards one industry award each year, in association with Brakes Scotland and The Caterer. The award recognises an individual who has demonstrated commitment to the industry above and beyond their day to day job role and someone who is recognised as head and shoulders above his or her peer group.
David Cochrane, CEO HIT Scotland said: “It is always a pleasure to work with Gordon on projects. His natural, positive outlook always allows for greater energy in meetings and his guidance is often sought when working through complex industry and education issues. I was delighted when Gordon’s name was announced and I think the warmth of the audience applause and the standing ovation demonstrated that we really did have a worthy winner.”
Gordon said: “To be recognised by the industry at this level is amazing. It is a tribute and testament to the talented young people we have the privilege of teaching at the college, who leave us ready for the careers ahead of them. I am also grateful to the great team of staff who have supported me over the years.”
